Mediation and Settlement

Coming to an Agreement with the Other Party

It is not the court’s job to force an arrangement between the parties. However, if you and the defendant agree, you may settle your case at any point. You can submit the agreement in writing to the court using the Stipulation form. The court can then make your agreement an order of the court to be enforced like a judgment. Most counties have private or volunteer mediators that you may be able to use before your trial date or on the day of your trial. Contact the court where you will file or have filed your case for information on available mediation options.
