Demand for Compliance

Your landlord may serve you with a Demand for Compliance to notify you that you have not complied with the rental agreement. An example of not complying with the rental agreement is not paying the full rent that is due. The Demand for Compliance must state the exact part of the agreement with which you have not complied. It must also be given to you or someone else living on the property who is over the age of 15 or must be posted in an easily visible place on the property.

Next Steps

Once you have been given the Demand for Compliance or it has been posted on the property, you have ten days to come into compliance with the rental agreement or to move. If you move, you may still be liable for any fees and costs that your rental agreement allows your landlord to recover. If you do not move or come into compliance within the ten day period, your landlord may start an eviction case against you by filing a Summons and Complaint with the court.
